How does Shelf to Cart work?
Point your phone camera at any grocery shelf price tag. Our OCR reads the item name and price, then adds it to your running total. You can scan as many items as you want during a shopping trip.
What's the 'first 1,000 free forever' offer?
We're giving the first 1,000 signups unlimited scans, free forever — no credit card, no expiration. Once 1,000 spots are claimed, new users get our standard plan: 100 free scans to try, a 30-day trial, then 5 scans per month free or unlimited scans with Pro. Your free-forever status is locked in permanently if you claim a spot.
Do I need to download an app?
No. Shelf to Cart works in your phone's browser with no download required, and the native iOS app is now available on the App Store.
Is it free to use?
Yes! You can start scanning for free with no credit card required. After your first 10 scans, a free 30-day trial activates with 100 scans per month. After the trial, the free plan includes 5 scans per month, or you can upgrade to Pro for unlimited scanning.
How accurate is the AI scanning?
Shelf to Cart uses on-device OCR in native apps and server-side OCR/AI analysis when needed to read price tags. It works best with clearly printed shelf tags and can handle weighted items (per lb/kg pricing). You can always edit any scanned price manually if needed.
Does it calculate tax?
Optionally. Tax is off by default, so the running total shows the prices you scan. In settings you can turn on a tax estimate and enter a rate manually, or tap the location icon to attempt automatic detection of a local rate. You can apply one blanket rate or separate grocery and non-grocery rates. It is a conservative estimate, not an official tax calculation.
Can I use it on multiple devices?
Absolutely. Your account syncs across devices, so you can start a shopping trip on your phone and review your session history on a tablet or computer. Shopping lists also sync across all your devices.
What happens after the free trial ends?
After your 30-day free trial, you can continue using Shelf to Cart with the free plan (5 scans per month). To unlock unlimited scanning and full session history, upgrade to Pro starting at $3.33/month billed annually.
Is my data secure?
Yes. Photos are processed for scan analysis and are not permanently stored by Shelf to Cart. Your account data is stored securely with Supabase (built on PostgreSQL). We never sell your data or share it with advertisers.
Can I get a receipt of my shopping trip?
Yes. Every saved shopping session includes a receipt-style summary with items, quantities, tax breakdown, and totals, which you can share or download as a PDF from the app.
What devices and browsers are supported?
Shelf to Cart works on iPhone and iPad through the App Store and on any modern mobile browser with camera access (Safari, Chrome, Firefox, Edge). Android support is in testing.
