No! Shelf to Cart works right in your phone's browser — no app download required. You can also install it as a PWA (Progressive Web App) for a native app experience, or download the Android app.
Is it free to use?
Yes! You can start scanning for free with no credit card required. After your first 10 scans, a free 30-day trial activates with 100 scans per month. After the trial, the free plan includes 5 scans per month, or you can upgrade to Pro for unlimited scanning.
How accurate is the AI scanning?
Shelf to Cart uses Google Cloud Vision OCR combined with AI analysis to read price tags. It works best with clearly printed shelf tags and can handle weighted items (per lb/kg pricing). You can always edit any scanned price manually if needed.
Does it calculate tax?
Yes! Shelf to Cart automatically detects your local tax rates using GPS and applies the correct tax to each item. It supports dual tax rates — different rates for grocery staples vs. taxable items — so your total matches what you'll actually pay at checkout.
Can I use it on multiple devices?
Absolutely. Your account syncs across devices, so you can start a shopping trip on your phone and review your session history on a tablet or computer. Shopping lists also sync across all your devices.
What happens after the free trial ends?
After your 30-day free trial, you can continue using Shelf to Cart with the free plan (5 scans per month). To unlock unlimited scanning, email receipts, and full session history, upgrade to Pro starting at $3.33/month billed annually.
Is my data secure?
Yes. Photos are processed server-side and are never stored — they're analyzed and discarded immediately. Your account data is stored securely with Supabase (built on PostgreSQL). We never sell your data or share it with advertisers.
Can I email myself a receipt of my shopping trip?
Yes! Pro subscribers can email themselves a detailed receipt for any shopping session, including all items, quantities, tax breakdown, and totals. Great for tracking expenses or sharing with family.
